Increasing the vehicle's load to 3.5 t offers great advantages in everyday life and when traveling. Many modern basic vehicles, with upscale equipment and high basic weight, no longer offer the customer sufficient reserves in the load. If a living cabin or other heavy equipment is added for vacation or everyday work, the permissible total weight of the vehicle is quickly exhausted and often even significantly exceeded.

In addition to the resulting safety risk of being on the road with an unstable and overloaded suspension, the driver is threatened with hefty fines at home and abroad should one be weighed in check.

The increase in the gross vehicle weight to 3.5 tons provides clarity and safety in this respect. This is where the strength of the Ironman4x4 suspension comes into its own! Without complicated or susceptible additional solutions such as air springs with extra compressor systems, the axle loads can be adjusted with a conventional Ironman4x4 suspension without further conversion with an additionally available expert opinion on the uplift and entered in the registration papers.

Here, the GVM Upgrade from the Australian suspension specialists offers another major advantage: many GVM Upgrades are only possible in conjunction with the hardest available leaf and coil springs - Ironman4x4 suspensions can already be used for an GVM Upgrade from the performance variant. This means that even vehicles with a nominally more comfortable spring can already enjoy the 3.5 ton approval. In this case, the rear axle load of the VW Amarok 2023+ is always increased to 2150 kg.


IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to the design, only VW Amarok 23+ with a rear disc brake can currently be loaded up to 3.5 tons (e.g. Wildtrak models etc.).

what is a load increase? 

When removing a pick-up with cabs or other load increase, strict attention must be paid to the permissible total weight, as excessive weight is not only illegal and results in fines, but is also dangerous in road traffic. Original vehicle suspensions are not designed to carry a large weight over a long period of time, which is why a replacement to a reinforced suspension is always advisable.

Genesis Import's upgrade to 3.5 tons proves that the Ironman4x4 suspensions can withstand these demanding tasks, which exceed the standard permissible total weight, as certified by TÜV. It is therefore a certificate that the maximum total load of 3.5 t for passenger cars properly and in accordance with the ABE for the suspension, can be entered in the vehicle registration.

Our weighting certificate is significantly different from other certificates:

1) With our GVM Upgrade, you don't have to make any additional structural changes. That is: chassis (from performance) in and with the additional TÜV parts certificate simply make the change in the papers. No air bellows, no special leaf springs and no binding to a degree of hardness of the leaf spring are necessary.

2) The GVM Upgrade is also valid in many EU countries outside of Germany through a special certificate (B-papers).

what do i need to consider when buying a load increase

The available Genesis Import upgrade is individually issued to your vehicle identification number and is only valid for registration for the corresponding vehicle.  

However, the requirements for the 3.5 t transcription are of course a multi-factor system. In addition to our Ironman4x4 chassis, which meets all the basic requirements for strength and durability, other components must also be designed for the new load - namely rims and tires.

The original rims are not part of the GVM certificate, the rims need a sufficient load capacity for the increased rear axle load. The third component is easy to check. The mounted tires must be adapted to the new rear axle load and thus have at least a 111 load index. If this is not the case with the original tires, the necessary strength must be ensured here by a change.
