The Falcon 1.2 awning is manufactured in such a way that a tent entrance can be fitted at any time. The corresponding opening can either be used as an access hatch without an access tunnel or can be closed to make it wind and waterproof.
The James Baroud side awning 1.2 has a much larger and more comfortable access than the side awning 1.0.
With the Falcon 1.2, James Baroud is launching the successor to the classic awning. The fabric used is identical to the fabric James Baroud uses for his tents. The frame of the awning is made of aluminium and the bracket is made of iron.
The awning has a net weight of 32.6kg and a total weight including brackets of 48kg. When closed, the awning has a length of 250 cm, a width of 17 cm and a height of 20 cm. It can be mounted on the Rhino-Rack, the AEV Roof Racks as well as on roof racks.
The two fixing brackets supplied are attached to the C-rails on the back of the awning using screws. The other side of the bracket is then attached to the roof rack.
A set of three side panels and a mosquito net are available as accessories to match the awning.
When closed, the awning is wrapped in a three-part lorry tarpaulin, which is closed with Velcro along its length. It is also secured vertically at the ends with tensioning straps.
The main profile is made of aluminium with an iron bracket for the four swivel arms. Three arms swivel backwards, one forwards. An opening for the tent tunnel is also integrated into the awning. Optional side walls can be attached, which can be pulled
into a piping rail.
Assembly:
To open the awning, first open the fixed tensioning straps on the sides of the cover. The cover must then be laid backwards over the swivel arms. After opening the inner tensioning straps, the awning fabric is unrolled and the awning can be fanned out.
The awning is available for the left (LHS) or right (RHS) side of the vehicle.
It is tensioned using a strap that is attached to the rear roof rack. An additional bag contains four telescopic poles (two small, two large), which are inserted horizontally between the swivel arms to tension the outside of the awning. The four feet
are then folded out of the aluminium profiles (swivel arms) and set up. Thanks to the telescopic mechanism, these can also be set up on uneven ground by simply tightening them.
Falcon 1.0 vs. Falcon 1.2
The awnings are identical apart from the access point where the tunnel is mounted in the roof tent. The tunnel hole of the Falcon 1.2 now has a length of 70cm, compared to the Falcon 1.0 with a length of 58cm. There is only a minimal difference of 3-4
cm in width. The new awning fits perfectly in combination with the Odyssey Tunnel.
It is possible for one person to assemble the awning alone.
